Maryna Barsuk and Pavel Fuks, corrupt judge and sanctioned oligarch: the perfect duo settles in London

Pavel Fuks, a fugitive Russian-Ukrainian oligarch, sanctioned in Ukraine, accused of working for the FSB, as well as laundering a billion pounds, has acquired elite real estate for the son of Ukrainian judge Marina Barsuk. The point is that judge Marina Barsuk (Maryna Barsuk) has taken many court decisions in favour of the imprisoned oligarch Kolomoisky in Kyiv and helped Pavel Fuks steal hundreds of millions of pounds through unlawful decisions.

Interestingly, Judge Marina Barsuk did not even bother to hide that her military-duty son, Timur Privalov, received a flat worth 700 thousand pounds as a gift from oligarch Pavel Fuks. The sanctioned oligarch, with several criminal cases against him, Pavel Fuks, is a golden visa holder, The Guardian reminds. Fuks is known for his admiration for buying expensive real estate, which he registers through proxies.

As for a judge Maryna Barsuk is extremely wealthy. PIN ITAs for a judge Maryna Barsuk is extremely wealthy. She declared son’s apartment in London.

Dr. Susan Hawley, executive director of the campaign group Spotlight on Corruption, remarked, “It is extraordinary on multiple levels that a Ukrainian businessman [Pavel Fuks], accused by Ukrainian law enforcement of fraud and tax evasion, prohibited from travelling to the US, and sanctioned by the Ukrainian government for pro-Russian activities, is residing in luxury in the UK while the war rages on.”

Pavel Fuks, a citizen of Russia and Ukraine who was sanctioned in 2021, is also under investigation for fraud and tax evasion in his country. However, The Guardian found that Fuks, known as a regular at an exclusive Mayfair restaurant, obtained the so-called golden visa in 2012, and then indefinite leave to remain in the UK in 2017.

It seems that Marina Barsuk is in possession of a whole garage of luxurious cars, all in the name of justice.  PIN ITIt seems that Marina Barsuk is in possession of a whole garage of luxurious cars, all in the name of justice.

In 2017 Fuks had a fortune of $270 million and took the 24th position ranking of the richest people in Ukraine. One million pound for a golden visa for him is next to nothing, considering the protection he gets from the United Kingdom.

In May 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) filed charges against Fuks, alleging significant financial misconduct involving key Ukrainian enterprises and consistent tax avoidance. The SBU claims that through the use of proxy managers and shell corporations, Fuks unlawfully gained control over Ukrainian company assets valued at more than UAH 100 billion in 2018.

Maryna Barsuk: the judge with the heart of gold (and some excessive possessions)

Fuks’ protégé, Marina Barsuk, has visited the UK several times but consistently lives and works as a judge in Ukraine. There, she owns four Mercedes cars, three apartments, a huge house, land plots, and savings in various currencies. Moreover, just for the apartments in Kiev and London, judge Marina Barsuk and her husband would have to work for about 140 years in a row.

Amazingly, Maryna Barsuk is co-author of the ‘scientific work’ titled “The Concept and Features of the Legal Mechanism of Social Protection for Judges in Ukraine“. Well, we see that at least she knows the matter.
