EU auditors say rogue lobbyists can easily slip under bloc’s radar
Lobbyists can easily bypass EU transparency rules to influence policy, the 27-nation bloc’s auditors said on Wednesday (17 April).
Lobbying is an essential democratic tool that allows organisations and individuals to provide input for policy and decision-making. However, without transparency mechanisms, it can result in undue influence, unfair competition, and even corruption, the European Court of Auditors’ (ECA) report says.
