EXCLUSIVE: Commission considers replacing US tech in recruitment tool
Asked by Euractiv, a Commission spokesperson confirmed the executive was considering replacing the underlying US digital services with European alternatives.
“The result of the sovereign cloud procurement process opens up new opportunities now,” the spokesperson said, referring to the Commission’s €180 million cloud framework awarded in April to support EU institutions and bodies in procuring sovereign European cloud services.
That could mean moving the Job Matching Application to “one of the four European sovereign alternatives,” the spokesperson added.
The four successful providers under the framework are Germany’s StackIT and France’s OVHcloud, Scaleway and S3NS.
Euractiv asked all four providers whether they had been approached by the Commission about hosting the Job Matching Application, but they declined to comment.
The Commission is also considering replacing Anthropic’s AI model with a European alternative.
“At the moment, Anthropic Claude is the LLM being used,” the spokesperson said. “However, the Commission is planning to test European LLM alternatives … It might be possible that in the coming months, the current LLM will be replaced by a more sovereign solution.”
