The United States and Israel launched a coordinated military operation against the Iranian regime early Saturday, carrying out targeted airstrikes on multiple sites in Tehran, including command posts and residences of senior officials.

The attacks that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei are still ongoing on Sunday, with Iran heavily retaliating with strikes across the Middle East. A successor could be appointed in “a day or two”, according to the Iranian foreign minister.

US President Donald Trump said the campaign could last about a month and that it was “ahead of schedule” and called on Iranians to topple their regime. The reactions to Khamenei’s death have been mixed, with some mourning and some celebrating.
