COVI workshops: EU crisis preparedness and response and ‘long COVID’

Members of the Special Committee on COVID-19 (COVI) will debate with several experts the state of play of the EU’s crisis preparedness and response system, the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges ahead:

  • Petronille Bogaert, Head of Unit and Scientific Project Manager, Sciensano
  • Marion Koopmans, Head of the Viroscience Department, Erasmus MC

COVI members will also meet with experts to discuss key facts and developments related to “long COVID”, and identify regulatory and policy aspects that need to be addressed in order to minimise the impact of long COVID on European citizens and society:

Background

In March 2022, the European Parliament established a new “Special committee on the COVID-19 pandemic: lessons learned and recommendations for the future” (COVI). The committee’s work focuses on four areas: health, democracy and fundamental rights, social and economic impact, as well as global aspects related to the pandemic.
