It’s a big day in Ankara where the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum kicks off with high-level announcements from NATO, allies and industry. The aim is to show that European allies and Canada are spending big bucks on their defence to appease Donald Trump.

NATO chief Mark Rutte has already laid the groundwork, telling reporters that the contracts will be worth “tens of billions”. He also affirmed that allies – without the US – are already investing around 4% of their GDP in defence and security.

Among the events to watch; a panel with SACEUR, SACT and CMC, and another with Canada’s Mark Carney and Luxembourg’s Luc Frieden, who have pitched a new bank to boost investment in defence SMEs among NATO allies.
