Latvia prime minister resigns over straying Ukraine drones

Latvia’s Prime Minister Evika Silina told a press conference on Thursday she had resigned over her government’s handling of Ukrainian drones that strayed into Latvian territory during attacks in Russia.

The left-wing Progressive party withdrew its support for Silina’s coalition after she fired party member Andris Spruds on Sunday, saying Latvia’s anti-drone systems had not been deployed quickly enough to counter the intrusions on May 7.
