Kazakhstan and South Korea are set to increase the number of flights between the two countries and launch several new routes.

The Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan (CAC) indicated that the two sides are set to enhance the frequency of flights for two existing routes: Astana – Seoul and Almaty – Seoul. In addition, new flights from Shymkent, a city in Kazakhstan, to Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, are expected to be introduced. Flights from Busan, a South Korean city, to several cities in Kazakhstan are also on the cards.

The plans were revealed following a meeting between Lastayev and the deputy head of the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. Lastayev also held discussions with executives from T’Way and Sirius Airlines, a cargo carrier. Both Korean companies expressed their intention to commence flights to Kazakhstan.

The country also plans to launch new flights to Italy from Astana to Rome and Astana to Milan.

In addition, Qazaq Air plans to launch flights on the Turkistan-Samarkand route from March 15, reported the Civil Aviation Committee’s press service. Flights will be operated twice a week on Fridays and Sundays on De-Havilland Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.

These developments indicate a significant expansion in Kazakhstan’s international air connectivity.
